Mazingira Niafya offers the trash pickers a better way of improving their health and at the same time will help them overcome their worst fear of not having a source of income  as they put it" the dumpsite is the source of live and death " but this will be done in a safer way.

At the moment the middle men that buy trash from the trash pickers have been exploiting the  people by giving them less money per kg picked. And there is nothing being done to escape from this situation.

Therefore our business  is going to  create better  alternatives, offering them higher income and safe working conditions. Mazingira ni Afya  will make this possible by renting equipment, to protect collectors while they are working on the dumpsite (gumboots, masks, and gloves) and increase their productivity (lights, carts).

If more trash is collected there will be a spill over effect on the environment by clearing more land of the dumpsite, a less likelihood of the water nearby to be polluted, less pollution from burning unwanted waste and therefore creating a better environment for the people in the society.

People working with us will not only improve their lives but also the lives of people who depend on them  e.g their children will be fed.

Our awareness and education programs will also benefit children in that their parents will be encouraged to take  their children to school from the income raised.

The benefit customers are going to enjoy will variate from the equipment they are going to rent;

​

• Lights extending  the number of possible working hours, giving people the possibility to work  as early as 5am and after 5pm. This would increase their daily production from  20% to 40%, depending on the amount of extra work they are going to perform. 

• Carts can drastically increase the productivity of the customers, allowing them to collect 30 kg daily (it is estimated to raise the productivity to about15 kg), Increasing the revenues of the collectors to 4.13€( if30kg plastic is picked) on average.

• People are going to work safely through the use of masks, gloves, boots, reducing on their medical expenses or risk of suffering from diseases.

• Collector's anxiety will be reduced because they will have a dependable source of income and will have to recieve a fixed amount on their trash sold .

• Women are not allowed to pick trash that seem to be dangerous such sharp metals and heavy metals they believe that only men can handle that so they leave them with nothing to collect if a heap of trash dumped has such wastes.

• our equipment will make it easy for women to participate in collecting such wastes.

• The company will work with an equal number of women and men.

• NOTE:using our equipment will not be mandatory but customers that use our equipment will have an additional bonus of 20% on the revenues they recieve.
