Mazingira ni Afya
Our business environment is divided to Macro and Meso/Micro phase
MACRO
Our macro environment includes government and economic institutions, technology, population and labour force. Government can be divided in the two parts, local and national.
The Kenyan government is responsible for making economic-policies that affect the rate of inflation, protection of patents, giving out contracts to start up businesses ,the government is the primary rule marker. The government plays a role in the environmental maintenance of the country and We will deal with both, local and national governments that at the end of the day have similar missions and impact on our business.
The government wants a great imagine of its country in order to sustain its tourism industry , so this is an opportunity in that the government may grant us a contract that will help solve one of its environmental pressing problems of the Dandora dumpsite.
It has been the government's desire to increase its real gdp and also increase the gdp per capita, so helping the people in Dandora to have a stable income may contribute to a better and increased gdp per capita.
According to the data base information from the Embassy of the United States "Kenya’s key economic challenge is to increase its real GDP growth rate. Sustained rapid economic growth is essential if Kenya is to address its high unemployment rate (officially about 10.5 percent, unofficially in excess of 40 percent) and widespread poverty."
Interests and Power
it seems government interest in our business will be on the medium with high power because of the decisions and regulations made by the business will affect the success of our business.
with high corruption rates recorded by the world bank, Kenyan government may influence the success of our business in a negative way, by giving business contracts to politicians that are interested on the dumpsite for their political reasons and not interested in the welfare of the residents of dandora.
The strategy consider is to offer a partnership contract with the government or execute our plan in a way that the government will be convinced beyond reasonable doubt that what we plan to offer the residents of the area will benefit a number of people in Kenya. And that our business will create a positive impact on the countries image.
Capital institutions
Capital institutions exist to give help to people that want to raise money to improve their business, our customers get to raise their income through selling of the trash. but their no capital institutions that give or lend money to our customers in order to invest in their business or improve their business.
Even as an organization the capital institutions can be an essential factor
Demographics
This will cover, the sex of people on the dumpsite, social-economic status, population trends of people who visit the dumpsite and as well as the labor force in Kenya. The change in any of the stated will affect the business, our target customers are people above 18years, we want to help individuals who are unemployed , those with families, and encourage their younger ones to go back to school (most of the community schools around that area are free). we are also trying to bring about gender equality so the ratio of women employed to men will be 1:1.Therefore a change in the social economic status will affect our business in that more of our product will be bought or not.
Meso/Micro
Our meso and micro environment includes competitors, environment institutions, anticipated customers, recycling companies, suppliers of the materials, investors and KRA (Kenyan revenue authority).
Customers
The mission of the our customers is to create a proper and stable income for themselves and their families, being able to survive and provide themselves with essential basic needs(shelter, food and clothing). Our customers have experienced exploitation from the people they transact business with and they are paid very less than what they are supposed to get for each kg of trash sold.
On the other hand this is an opportunity for us as we will provide a stable income to our customers and enable them to increase their productivity which will eventually improve their living standards.
on the other hand the customers' perception on the middle men has not being positive and this may negatively affect the success of our business if this is not dealt with.
Both interest and power on the business from the customers is relatively high so they need to be managed very closely. The decisions made on the product features is reflected from the customers' desires, needs and anxieties.
Educating the customers about the benefits received from using our product might change their attitude, and probably have a positive perception about our business.Influencing their purchasing decisions by telling them the benefits of not incurring medical costs on respiratory treatments and injuries. our customers will be kept informed concerning the products and anything that may affect their purchasing decisions at every moment.
CARTEL LEADERS
(Kenyan News Network) In recent years cartels have been banned from using illegal dangerous weapons such as knives and guns, the kenyan police have put strict measures to ensure protection aginst violence on the dumpsite but one thing they have completly failed to remove is the payment of illegal tax that cartel leaders get to charge everyone that dump trash and operates from the dumpsite,.This component makes the cartels a part of the business environment and will affect the operations of Mazingara Ni Afya business in terms of cost added to paying the illegal tax.
Recycling companies
The recycling companies are our other source of revenue .There main mission is to create sustainable supply chain of wastes and have a reliable source of their wastes. They contribute to the cycle of clearing the dumpsite and providing stability for the people on the dumpsite.
They play a major role in executing our business plan. Their response towards our business may have a huge impact on our business, they are a source of income for our customers.
creating good customer relationship, since we are part of their supply chain will be the best way.
Suppliers of Materials
Their mission is to supply us with all the necessary equipment needed to be leased out and as well as for our business to start up. Materials sold to us should be of high quality failure to which, this may ruin the imagine of our business that we want to build and maintain. our suppliers will have high interest so they need to be informed on how our business is doing and also factors relating to our buying decisions . strict measures should be implemented to ensure that high and good quality of materials is delivered.
Employees
Employees are a representation of our mission, goal and vision. if the employees will not understand our main existence then our business is doomed and may just crumble. there mission is to help represent the company's brand. And there attitude and productivity may affect the company negatively or positively.one of our goals as a company is to provide job satisfaction and motivation to our employees in order for them to be more effective and efficient. They will need to participate in our social corporate responsibility schedules.
Investors
The main goal of our investors is to help us win more resources, and make high profits in order to be more solvent. They have a higher power because of their financial stake in the company, while even have higher interest because they want to know how there investments are being handled. Investors will be well informed on the day to activities especially on the revenue streams.
NGOs
We shall partner with non governmental organizations (ngos) so that we get the help of educating the customers on our products, and also get information from them that can be useful for rolling out the product. since these NGOs have worked on the site for a longer period and have collected data that concerns our customers.
